Join the Polish Consulate for a series of events commemorating the 80th Anniversary of Operation Market Garden!
The Polish Consulate are honoring General Stanisław Sosabowski and the brave 1st Independent Parachute Brigade with these special events:
Edinburgh Opening
- Thursday, August 22nd, 6:00 PM: “Operation Market Garden” lecture by retired Major General Adrian Freer OBE.
- Venue: The Royal Scots Club, 29-31 Abercromby Place, Edinburgh EH3 6QE.

The lecture will provide a comprehensive overview of Operation Market Garden, highlighting the contributions of the 82nd and 101st US Airborne Divisions, the 1st (British) Airborne Division (including the 1st Polish Parachute Brigade), and 30 Corps.

- 1:30 PM: Wreath-laying at the Leven Memorial (Leven Promenade, Leven KY8 4HY)
- 10:00 AM to Midnight: The Shortest Way: A Tribute to General Stanisław Sosabowski at the Polish Club in Kirkcaldy. This event includes a Holy Mass, parachute jumps, film screening, book presentation, lecture, and gala dinner.
Sunday, August 25th
- 9:00 AM: Sunday Commemorative Service for war veterans at The Royal Chapel of the Falkland Palace, Cupar.
- 11:00 AM: Falkland Memorial Wreath Laying at Brunton Green, Falkland.
- 12:00 PM: Gen Sosabowski Race at Brunton Green, Falkland. Registration is available at www.entrycentral.com/sosabowski
- 1:00 PM: Traditional Polish soldier’s dish of Bigos at Falkland Community Hall.
- 1:30 PM: Presentation of trophies to the race winners at Falkland Community Hall
